Standing Pat in the House of Consternation
By Jack Conway

I shuffle through this house of consternation,
to my own amazement. Living in a house of cards,
the deck stacked.
And even the kindest cut
is not enough
to deal with what
you must.
In this great constellation
that reveals itself at moody intervals,
I remain unmoved.
The hand I hold I know is true and real.
And because you can only love the things you love,
the cards fall.
Go fish.
